Jake Moody-K-Michigan 3rd Round 2023 Draft

I felt he should have been out longer, then ultimately done for the year when their season was over.
For how easy it is for ANY kicker to develop the yips, why rush out a young kicker with a foot injury likely on pain management medication?

That was an awesome kick but he's gonna need to do more.

I would cut ties and move on from Moody.

NIce guy, and I want him to dominate, but he's too shaky.Even his successful kicks do not inspire confidence. There's something off about how the ball travels off his foot, or something. I do not trust him to make kicks. And the fact that he's seeing a sports psychologist is kind of weird. you want a kicker with ice water in his veins, not one who seeks therapy for kicking.

I hope I'm wrong. It's a weird situation. He's good enough to keep the rollercoaster on the tracks, but also bad enough that every shank ignites the fan-base.
I think they will go into the season with him, and it's only a matter of time before this thing goes off the rails.

I remind myself Gould was a luxury and it'll be next to impossible to find someone that good again.

Moody's 59-yd fg for the win looked pretty good for me.

Agreed, I wasn't intending to insult Moody. I have always pulled for him, but he has been inconsistent whereas Gould I believe had one important miss that I can recall (and later made the game winner) so I think that's a tough shadow to escape for most fans.

I believe some fans will never be happy until he hits three 74 yarders a game for 3 weeks straight. Even then someone will still blame him for the SB loss.

It looked good to me as well. I'm hoping he's the guy, and he very well could be. It's more like a feeling I have about him. My gut tells me this is going to be a bumpy ride. we shall see

it was nice kick. Hopefully he become consistent this year. He might be out if he looses 2 games for us.

Gould was 86% for his career and 87% as a Niner. Moody was 84% in his first season. Hardly any difference. Last year Moody was awful and for some fans that will forever be who he is no matter what he does the rest of his career.

obviously, if he has a good season this year, the questions will be answered. He deserves some criticism for last season, and he has something to prove.
Fans will be happy with him if he kicks well.
Not sure if posted already but I laughed.

Fans just need someone to latch on to and b***h about. Once Moody is doing okay they will move on to next man up to cry. How about an OL player. Maybe a defensive rook.

Gould never missed a FG in the playoffs.
Interesting that they replaced his snapper and holder ... that and his motion changing ... going to be interesting to watch ... as much as it's every "interesting" to watch a kicker.

That's a nice thought but there will still be fans that say he can't be trusted. That's kind of the way it is with kickers. Fans expect them to deliver every time. They don't seem to have the same dislike for the receiver that dropped a first down pass that caused the team to go for the FG. They don't jump all over the lineman that missed a block that kept the RB from gaining 2 yards and that first down or the QB that missed a wide open receiver. But miss a 50 yard kick by a foot and you're garbage.
